2017 Avril Taylor
Napa Valley
Chardonnay

The Wine
We are thrilled to present our fourth vintage of Chardonnay from the Napa Valley. The 2017 is a remarkable vintage and possibly our vintage best yet. Our chardonnay program has traditionally featured an aromatic profile with lively acidity and a light-to-medium finish, and this vintage continues with that trend. Notes of meyer lemon, pineapple, mango, and white peach dominate the aromatics, and the little neutral oak that we used is hardly traceable. This is the opposite of an ‘oaky-buttery’ chardonnay.

Appellation: Napa Valley
Blend: 100% Chardonnay
Production: 100 Cases
Alcohol: 14.1%
Release Date: April 27th, 2019

The 2017 Vintage
Two thousand-seventeen was an active weather year. The year started with epic, disruptive rainfall that pulled California out of a drought. Warm-to-hot temperatures in the spring and summer caused rapid growth, but also caused stress in the vineyard. Temperatures peaked at around 120 degrees over Labor Day Weekend. Hurricane force winds rocked the wine country in early October and created devastating wildfires in the region. Our grapes were thankfully picked before the fires began, however some were not as fortunate. This vintage put life into perspective for everyone.

Notes
This is our second vintage with the 'Avril Taylor Chardonnay' label. Our 'Number Thirteen Chardonnay' label (used in 2014 & 2015) has been retired, however we kept the same look and feel with our new label.
